![]() As others have said, the only time mp3tag is slow is if it has to rewrite the entire file in order to include the metadata you're adding. You could search google for a tool that can trawl your library and "pad out" the metadata header to give you enough room to move. I load my whole library only in rare occasions if I'm reorganizing everything or I need to sort by some tag to make sure I'm consistent in my tagging. To load 8000 tracks it takes about 5 minutes. To give you some performance idea, I use fairly old and weak PC. If this is a case I suggest changing your ripping software. ![]() ![]() Reason it behaves like that is that some ripping software stores initial tags at incorrect places in the file, so mp3tag needs to read the whole file, reorganize it and write it to the disk again. Change some more tags again and update tracks - no lag should be there. Rip a new album, store it in the separate folder, change some tags - there might be some lag. You probably can no know if you load your whole library at the time. Now, for the updating lag - is it happening again and again with the same tracks, or it is like that only the first time the certain track is updated. I have several thousand tracks and MP3Tag is proving extremely slow to use with them - it takes ages to load, over an hour just to delete the old tags and then ages again to save any changes.Īt this rate it will take weeks to update my tags - is there anything I can do to speed this up?Try loading on 'as needed' bases. ![]()
